Lycra wakeboard: which one to choose?

Lycras were created to protect the skin from the sun and from rubbing on the surfboard, but they are also useful in sports such as wakeboarding, wakeskating and kitesurfing.
In wakeboarding, the lycra is worn under the impact vest: helps prevent chafing, keeps the jacket in place even after a fall and adds a minimal layer of warmth. There are short-sleeved or long-sleeved models, but in any case it must be elastic and well-fitting, to remain more comfortable.
However, if the water is cold, or you are looking for something more protective, better to opt for a neoprene bodice. It is less free in movement, but it is thicker and retains heat better. The vests can have a front zip or be without a zip, with short or long sleeves. The thickness of the neoprene usually varies from 0.5 to 2 mm, depending on the model.

Have you found the right lycra?
Lycras and vests aren't just for surfing: they're also great technical garments for wakeboarding, and are comfortable to wear under an impact vest for extra comfort and warmth. If you're undecided between a lycra or vest, first consider the water temperature. Lycra is lighter, making it ideal for hot days. Neoprene vests, on the other hand, insulate better from the cold and are useful when conditions are cooler or you want a little extra protection.
